Student Profiles
Our online tool, Compass, enables students to create a student profile by entering key information about themselves including their high school classes, activities, hobbies, interests, and personality assessment results. Compass organizes that information so it’s easy for students to see their strengths and skills at a glance, providing clear information to help them as they look to their futures.
Compass also uses student profiles to proactively recommend careers and work-based learning opportunities that may be a good fit. Better yet, these careers and experiences are all with real, regional companies that are seeking future employees. Students can browse through multiple opportunities and experiences, click through to learn more information about each, and reach out to employers they are interested in. Compass is easy to use from a phone or computer, and students can update their profiles regularly (twice a school year) for the best results.

Career Profiles
One of the best features of Compass is Career Profiles. More than just job descriptions, they are detailed portrayals of real jobs. We work with employers in your region to provide local opportunities for your student. Career Profiles provide a map for students to follow in high school to get ready for a career, highlighting the classes, activities, and hobbies that will best prepare them. Once students have completed their student profiles, Compass will suggest Career Profiles based on their interests and skills.
We create Career Profiles by visiting directly with the people working in those careers now, getting the real story of what it means to be a diesel technician, certified nursing assistant, or lab operator – just to name a few. We include suggested postsecondary programs, salary and benefits, a day-in-the-life, and more, all to help students picture themselves in these roles.
Work-Based Learning Experiences
Compass makes it simple for students to find experiences that match their skills and interests – in much the same way as it recommends Career Profiles. Schools use the term WBL to encompass all hands-on career opportunities that may also earn academic credit, including internships, mentorships, apprenticeships, job shadows, and more.
Students can browse recommended WBL opportunities in Compass, click through to learn more information, reach out to employers, and even connect with our professional staff for guidance. They can also keep track of their WBL interests, applications, hours, communications, and more, all in Compass.
Sponsorships and Placements
We can help your student secure a job after graduation with Sponsorships and Placements.
With Placements, our professionals personally match students with open job positions at our partner employers. We work directly with students to guide them through the application and interview process. We also regularly check in during their first six months of employment.
Sponsorships are similar but include a postsecondary component. In these partnerships, employers cover part or all of a student’s schooling costs in exchange for a signed work agreement to work for the company for a set amount of time. Often, the employer provides sponsorships for postsecondary schools and programs they feel best prepare their future workforce. There is no cost for students to participate in either of these services.
