Schools
At Golden Path Solutions, we’re committed to helping you do what you do best — preparing your students for the future and setting them up for success. We do this by fostering meaningful connections between students, employers, and schools.
We help your students understand their skills, talents, and career path interests and make it easy for them to find hands-on work experiences and future jobs with local employers. We help you, as school professionals, to connect with regional employers, use Compass to manage work-based learning experiences, bring career exploration discussions into the classroom, strengthen your career fairs, and more.
By partnering with Golden Path, your students have access to the following features in our online tool, Compass:

For Your Students
Student Profiles
Our online tool, Compass, enables students to create a profile and receive a personalized career exploration experience. Based on their entered information (including classes, activities, hobbies, interests, and more), Compass assigns students Holland Codes. These codes, such as R for realistic and I for investigative, are used across industries to help identify characteristics that align with careers. Compass uses them to help students identify their strengths and interests and connect them with the O*NET Online career database for more information.
Compass also uses Holland Codes to match students with careers and work-based learning opportunities that may be a good fit. Better yet, these careers and experiences are all with real, local companies that are seeking future employees. Students can browse through multiple opportunities and experiences, click through to learn more information about each, and reach out to employers they are interested in.
Compass is easy to use from a phone or computer, and students can update their profiles regularly for the best results. Their profiles will help them learn more about themselves, recommend potential careers (including ones they may have never heard of), and keep track of their career-related experiences during high school.
Career Profiles
Career Profiles in Compass are more than just job descriptions. They are detailed portrayals of what it’s like to work in a real job at a local company, what it takes to get there, and what kinds of high school classes and experiences might indicate students would enjoy working there. Once students have completed their profiles, Compass will suggest Career Profiles based on their interests and skills.
To create Career Profiles, we visit with the people working in those careers now, getting the real story of what it means to be a diesel technician, certified nursing assistant, or lab operator – just to name a few. We include suggested postsecondary programs, salary and benefits, a day-in-the-life, and more, all to help students picture themselves in these roles.
Work-Based Learning Experiences
Compass makes it simple for students to find work-based learning (WBL) experiences that match their skills and interests – in much the same way as it recommends Career Profiles. Students can browse suggested WBL opportunities, click through to learn more information, reach out to employers, and even connect with our professional staff for guidance. Students can keep track of their WBL interests, applications, hours, communications, and more, all from Compass. We are quickly becoming a trusted resource for the WBL model and regularly present about WBLs and Compass at conferences and workshops.
College Pilot Program
With our new functionality highlighting colleges, students can now learn more in Compass about programs at regional colleges and how they connect with regional careers and companies. While browsing Career Profiles, students will see links to related college programs, and while browsing colleges, they will find links to related careers. They can learn about ways to help pay for school, and how best to prepare for the program. It’s another great way to make career exploration more meaningful and provide students with real-life opportunities and connections.
For Your School
Employer Connections Database
One of the easiest ways to start connecting students with employers and career exploration opportunities is through our Employer Connections Database in Compass. The database provides school professionals an organized, easy-to-use list of employers available for everything from school career fairs and field trips to guest speaker opportunities and summer jobs for students. You can search for employers interested in your school, by industry, by opportunity type, and more. When you see an employer or opportunity that interests you, simply contact that employer.
Work-Based Learning Management
Let Compass do the work of managing WBL at your school. Ditch the spreadsheets and paperwork and manage all of your files electronically through Compass. Our easy-to-use platform includes features for managing documentation and agreements, the entire application process, approvals, electronic signatures, workflow, time tracking, and more. It’s the WBL management tool you’ve been looking for.
Student Four-Year Plan
Compass can also be used as the management tool for tracking progress toward graduation. The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction ( ND DPI) is recommending that every student use Compass for the North Dakota Four-Year Rolling Plan. To better accommodate this feature, our team has updated Compass to allow school professionals access to manage school courses. Compass can provide this service for schools in any state.
Compass Activity Map
As a school professional, you have access to the Compass Activity Map, a downloadable document that provides a four-year suggested plan for using Compass in the classroom. The map takes the guesswork out of how and when to introduce Compass, get students started, and make the most of the platform’s features. We are currently creating corresponding lesson plans.
Presentations to Classes
Interested in Compass but need a little support to get started? Invite one of our professional staff to speak to your students. We can walk students through the process of creating a student profile in Compass, share about work-based learning and Career Profiles, and highlight some of the roles currently available. We’re here to assist you and your students with career exploration.
Support at Career Fairs
In addition to supporting your career fairs through the Employer Connections Database, our staff often attend and host a table at school career fairs. We’re there to spread the word about Compass and answer questions, but also to help students find represented employers they might be interested in, and foster more connections between employers and school professionals. We’d love to attend your next event.
