Golden Path Solutions is excited to announce a new partnership with Bismarck (ND) State College (BSC). Starting this fall, BSC students will have access to employers, work-based learning (WBL) experiences, and career opportunities through Compass.

BSC is one of the first postsecondary schools to use Compass for its students, especially as it relates to WBL experiences.

With this program, BSC students will have access to career, employer, and amenity information in Compass to support their career planning throughout their college years. Students can create Compass accounts tied to BSC, build profiles, and explore opportunities that align with their program of study, similar to how high school students use Compass with their teachers and counselors.

“We are thrilled about the possibilities this partnership brings to our students,” says BSC Director of Career Development & Support Services Lea Quam. “These pathways allow our students to connect with industry leaders and empower them to discover new career opportunities.”

A personalized Compass experience

BSC’s Compass experience includes a dedicated URL, a branded sign-up page, connections to employers interested in working with BSC students, and available college student opportunities such as internships, apprenticeships, and mentorships. Golden Path will partner with BSC to help employers understand how they can now connect with both the college and regional high schools. The partnership will also explore how to best work with other systems, like Handshake, to take advantage of their national footprint while also highlighting local employers and opportunities through Compass.

BSC can also share information about the college, programs, employer partnerships, and incentives through Compass without requiring a Compass account. This feature is available to all postsecondary programs using Compass. When students are ready to learn more – whether to discover career matches, apply for opportunities, or connect with school representatives – they can create a Compass account and get started.

“We’re excited to welcome the BSC community to Compass and expand our offerings to college students,” says Golden Path Solutions Founder and CEO Patrick Mineer. “This milestone enables us to better support college students as they prepare for their futures, while offering more opportunities for regional employers to find future talent.”

Growing opportunities for colleges

This is the college’s second pilot program with Golden Path. Last year, BSC joined four other colleges and universities as the first postsecondary schools in Compass, enabling high school students to learn about featured programs of study and explore connections to regional employers. These schools continue to build out their Compass profiles, enabling high school students to better understand how specific educational programs align with industry needs and their future careers.

Now, BSC is taking Compass to the next level, making these opportunities available for their own students.

“Expanding Golden Path Solutions for our college students provides more access to career exploration and real-world learning opportunities,” says BSC Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs Alicia Uhde. “Students will meet the right individuals who can connect them to successful careers and meet our region’s workforce needs.”
