One of the biggest reasons you, as an employer, are working with Golden Path Solutions is that you want to help students and schools understand what you do and how to connect with you.

The following best practices will help you leverage your free employer membership (Basic) within Compass to do just that. We’re also including tips to make the most of your paid employer memberships (from Awareness to Partnership), providing practical ways to prepare for the upcoming school year.

More than 23,000 students already have Compass profiles – that’s a lot of potential connections!

Update your employer profile page

One of the easiest things you can do is update your Compass employer profile page. This page is shared with school professionals across the region. If you have a paid employer membership or you post a work-based learning opportunity, it’s also shared with students.

Updating these items will help your employer profile shine:

  • Contact list: Remove company contacts who have left, add new ones, and ensure your primary contact is correct. The primary contact is shared with schools.
  • Connections Database options: Review the checklist and mark which opportunities you are interested in. Please note that we’ve added some new options!
  • Careers at your company: Select up to 10 careers in Compass that your business needs. These listed careers help students match with your employer profile, based on the skills and Holland Codes associated with those roles.
  • Media, links, and more: Add short videos, photos, social media links, company culture information, and more to build up your profile. It only takes a few minutes and provides additional value to schools and students.
  • Share your open URL:  From your employer profile, select “Open URL” and copy the link. You can share this link on your company website, via socials, or in emails. A Compass account is not required to view your employer profile.

Refresh your Career Profiles

Earlier this year, we shared information about our Career Profile redesign. The engaging format includes more photos, embedded videos, improved navigation, and easily accessible links to related information. If you have a published Career Profile, your profile will transition to the new format automatically, but you can make it more compelling to students by adding a few extra details, such as photos and a short video.

Create opportunities for students to connect with you

We’ve focused a lot on work-based learning (WBL) over the last few months, helping you post opportunities, understand insurance requirements, and more. It’s helpful to provide a variety of ways for students to connect with you.

Here are some opportunities you can share in Compass:

  • Job shadows: These WBL opportunities aren’t as in-depth as internships or cooperative work experiences, but they are a fantastic way to introduce your company to students and give you experience taking applications and making offers.
  • Career Profiles: When you renew your membership, you have the opportunity to create new Career Profiles (if you’d like), either created by Golden Path or using templates we provide you.
  • Events: You can publish events to schools or students, including career fairs or special events at your company.

School professionals who have opted into communications will receive notifications when you publish any of these items in Compass.

Connect with college students

We’re now welcoming college students into Compass, which means more opportunities for you to connect with potential future employees. If you’d like to share your company, events, Career Profiles, and other opportunities with college students, be sure to check the box for them under “Audience” for each of these items. We’ll send school professionals and students information about those opportunities, and students will also see them in Compass. We’re currently working with Bismarck (ND) State College on their internship process and opening up opportunities in Compass to students at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton.

Build your engagement strategy

Summer is an excellent time to start building your overall strategy for connecting with students for future workforce development. We recommend signing up for Career Fairs, guest speaking engagements, and other engagement opportunities. We’ll keep you informed of upcoming activities in the Compass events calendar and through our Facebook and LinkedIn pages.  You can also subscribe to our newsletter and read our blog.
