A new college pilot program in Compass is creating more opportunities for employers like you to build connections and grow your future workforce.

We’ve invited five colleges into Compass to highlight programs to share with students, as well as indicate which employers in Compass they already partner with. We’re helping to bridge the steps from career exploration to determining the best postsecondary route to a particular career. Colleges can associate their programs with employers they like to work with and employers can connect themselves with colleges and programs that work best for their careers.

For example, when a college adds your company to their Compass profile, it can help students understand which of your careers are tied to the programs through links to your employer page or Career Profiles. In addition, if a student views your Career Profile, they will also find links to the colleges and programs recommended for that career. It’s a great way for students to learn about both your company and the colleges you partner with.

The first five colleges invited to the program include North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota State University in Fargo, Mayville (ND) State University, Bismarck (ND) State College, and Northland Community and Technical College in Minnesota. Here are three ways the new program benefits employers like you:

1. Highlights your connection with college programs that support your careers

The college feature in Compass allows us to highlight the relationship your company has with a school or program. This enables you to recommend to students the training and education that best prepares a future employee for careers at your company. You can also feature connections through Sponsorships, scholarships, and other partnerships with colleges and programs. We can help you create a relationship with a college if you don’t have one already.

2. Enhances your current opportunities, such as Career Profiles and work-based learning

As a reminder, at Golden Path we want students not only to know about your great opportunities, but we want to give them a roadmap on how to get there. We use Career Profiles to help students understand what specific careers might entail, and the classes, activities, and hobbies that might best prepare them. Highlighting specific colleges and programs provides another valuable resource for students as they explore their options.

3. Provides an education-focused path forward for students

We recognize that students have different ways of searching for opportunities. Some look into careers they might enjoy and then research how to get there. Others prefer to explore degrees and programs they are interested in and then see which careers and employers hire from that program. With the new college pilot program, students will now have an easier time finding your company and your opportunities by either route.

As you think about your relationships with colleges and universities, remember that careers often have different requirements. From a two- or four-year degree to certification, diploma, or no postsecondary education at all, Golden Path can help students learn about the wide variety of opportunities you offer.
