We’re in the middle of fall career fair season – an opportunity for students and employers to meet face-to-face. We encourage everyone to keep building upon those connections in Compass after the fairs, helping students understand how they can learn more in Compass or connect through interest in Career Profiles, work-based learning, or other upcoming events.
To facilitate this, we’re expanding our marketing resources to help foster more of those connections at career fairs, especially for employers. Watch for next month’s employer email and blog post for more tips.
This week, Golden Path is an exhibitor at the Minnesota 2025 Career and Technical Education Summit Nov. 12-13, in Minneapolis. Please stop by the exhibition hall if you are attending. We’d love to connect.

Watch for Compass Release Notes for the latest features
We’re now sending our newsletter audience Compass Release Notes emails every other month. These easy-to-scan, audience-focused emails provide you with the latest Compass features, how to use them, and how to find them in Compass. From new tools for advanced work-based learning to event notifications for employers, we’re always making improvements to Compass to better meet your needs.
Our first issue went out last week and included numerous updates, such as:
- Agreements in Compass can now be tied to applications, employers, job shadow requests, or “general,” meaning you can track agreements online for any process needed.
- Schools can create work-based learning opportunities on behalf of an employer and then send them an invite.
- The new Career Profile design will soon become the default layout
- There’s a new job shadow request process that’s easy to use and available as an added Compass feature. Reach out if you are interested.
Please let us know if you have a suggested Compass feature or option. Compass is for you!
Pollert presenting at ACTE CareerTech VISION conference
Ann Pollert of Devils Lake, ND, is presenting about her career exploration work in partnership with CareerViewXR and the North Dakota Region 3 Mobile Career Exploration Classroom at this year’s ACTE CareerTech VISION 2025 conference. Golden Path will also be in attendance.
The VISION conference, held Dec. 9-12 in Nashville, TN, explores best practices across the country to prepare students for their careers and build connections between educators and employers for future workforce. We’ll learn about the latest trends in connecting employers and students, including work-based learning and apprenticeships.
Last year, nearly 5,000 attendees and hundreds of exhibitors attended the conference.
If you will be in attendance, please reach out. We want to connect!
Getting tactical about how Golden Path helps build future workforce
In our October and November employer blog posts, we’re exploring hands-on ways Golden Path helps build future workforce. Part One of our series examined how Career Profiles and work-based learning work together in Compass to build student interest in companies, careers, and opportunities.
Part Two will examine best practices for connecting with students at events where employers, schools, and students are interacting with each other, such as at career fairs, guest speaking opportunities, field trips, and more. Our newly expanded employer marketing resources can help foster these connections.

Student feedback is key to an even better Compass
We had a great conversation last week with an engaging group of Fargo North High School juniors and seniors.
The students shared their future schooling and career goals, how they made those decisions, what they like about Compass, and ideas for improving the platform. Feedback like this is essential as Compass evolves, and we appreciate their insight.
Thank you to Fargo North Career Advisor Tracy Cramer for organizing the meet-up.
We will continue to meet with students to gather their thoughts on Compass. If you know students who would like to participate, please contact us.
Bismarck State College students seeking internships in Compass
Bismarck State College is seeking regional internships for auto and diesel technology, heavy equipment operating, and business operations (everything from accounting to human resources and marketing). They are looking for employers that can provide an amazing opportunity for a student while building a valuable connection that could lead to future employment.
BSC is teaming up with Golden Path to help fill these internships for spring 2026. We want to hear from you now if your company is in one of these industries and you want to connect with BSC students. Simply create and publish your internships in Compass, or if you already have internships for high school students in Compass, you can copy your opportunity, set the audience to “College Students,” and hit publish. Please contact us if you need help setting up your opportunities.

We also welcome Lund Oil to the Golden Path community. They joined as a Premium Member through our partnership with the Bakken Area Skills Center in Watford City. Watch for their upcoming Career Profiles in Compass.

Partnering with local chambers and EDCs for workforce development
We recognize the importance of working together with other organizations in our communities to drive future workforce. Our workforce development efforts align with the missions of chambers and economic development corporations across our region and beyond. It’s why we’re thankful to have strong relationships with several of them, including:
- Detroit Lakes (MN) Regional Chamber of Commerce
- Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce in Gaffney, SC
- Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corp. in Fargo, ND
- Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce in Fargo
We’ll continue cultivating these relationships, especially with organizations working closely with schools and students. One example of those partnerships in action is the work done at large career fairs, including Northern Valley Career Expo in Grand Forks, ND; the Health, Tech, and Trades Career Expo in Fargo; the Central Dakota Student Career Fair in Bismarck, ND; and more.
Let us know about your events
If you have an event that you want us to include in our newsletter, please send us a note at info@goldenpath.net. If you are an employer and want to publish your event to schools and students, remember that you can do that through Compass. If you’re an educator wanting to invite employers to a school event (like a career fair or expo), you can do that in Compass too, choosing the employers you invite by industry, name, career cluster, or distance from you.
