You can now connect with students in middle school all the way through college in Compass! This means even more opportunities for you to highlight your company, educate students about careers you will be hiring for in the future, and offer internships to both high school students and college students.
This summer, we welcomed all 11 North Dakota University System institutions and the five state tribal colleges into Compass. We’ve already had a few of the NDUS schools, Concordia College, and Lynnes Welding Training in Compass, and we’re excited to expand our reach. The postsecondary schools will be using Compass to share key programs with high school students as part of their Admissions efforts, as well as matching current college students with employers, internships, and careers.
It’s all good news for employers in Compass. You now have even more opportunities to build connections and drive your future workforce.
More students. More opportunities to connect.
More colleges in Compass benefit everyone, including employers like you. Here’s how:
- Reach more students with your company and careers. Take the step below to ensure your profile, careers, and work-based learning are shown to college students. You’ve just expanded the audience you can reach in Compass.
- Broaden your pool for internship candidates. Being able to hire high school or college students (or both!) as interns means you can vary the level of responsibility, highlight different aspects of your company, prepare for jobs after college, and more.
- Build more connections between careers, employers, and college programs. Compass makes associations between related careers and programs, helping students find one from the other. This can lead to more exposure for your careers and company.
- Stay connected with students through their education journey. Your company, careers, and opportunities can be there from their first Compass login in sixth grade to Career Profile searches and job fairs in early high school, a job shadow and work-based learning experience in later high school, and an internship in college.
Get ready to reach college students
A few quick Compass account updates can help you start reaching college students. Here’s how:
- Update your preferences in the Employer Connections Database. Go to your Profile in Compass and select Employer Connections Database. Choose All Colleges or select individual ones you would like to connect with. Check which types of connections, like career fairs and field trips, you would like to participate in. You will also see new options like serving on advisory boards or providing resources to schools.
- Update the audiences for your Career Profiles and work-based learning. Under the audience section of each of these, simply also check the box for college students – and adults, if you’d like. You can share one career or opportunity with all audiences (or create separate ones for K-12, college, and adult) with each containing unique content.
- Update the schools for your Career Profiles and work-based learning. You can also adjust what schools your opportunities publish to by selecting All Colleges or checking particular ones. School professionals will receive a notification when you publish a new opportunity.
