The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce is working with Golden Path Solutions to help its member employers build their future workforce. The Chamber already builds student-employer connections through programs such as Junior Leadership Cherokee (pictured), and will now help drive internships and other work-based learning opportunities for students in Compass.

Golden Path Solutions is proud to announce its new partnership with the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce in Gaffney, SC, to help drive future workforce development for its member businesses while also providing opportunities for area high school students.

Cherokee County School District, headquartered in Gaffney, joined the Golden Path Solutions community earlier this year. As the first district outside of the Midwest, Cherokee County marks a significant step in expanding Golden Path’s mission to connect students nationwide with meaningful career pathways. The district is using our online platform Compass to support career exploration and work-based learning opportunities, like internships, for students at its three high schools: Blacksburg High School, Gaffney High School, and the Institute of Innovation.

Golden Path and the Chamber are working together to engage employers within Compass to highlight their companies, careers, and work-based learning experiences. By helping meet the school district’s desire for student internships, specifically, employers are providing key student experiences while also fostering connections that could lead to future employment.

Connecting students and employers

The Chamber serves as an advocate for its more than 350 business members by promoting the growth of business, industry, and community.

“This partnership represents exactly what the Chamber exists to do – connect education, employers, and opportunity,” said Frannie Stockwell, president of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce. “By working with Golden Path and our school district, we are helping our businesses build a future workforce while giving students real-world exposure to careers right here in Cherokee County. It’s a win for our students, our employers, and our community as a whole.”

Thanks to the generosity of the Cherokee County School District, 20 Chamber members are invited to join Compass with a free Golden Path Awareness Membership ($500 value). The district purchased 20 Golden Path Awareness Memberships to help local employers get started. Employers may also choose from other membership levels to find the combination of features and services that best serve them.

Fostering student opportunities

Golden Path and the Chamber will work together to drive awareness of the partnership and help connect employers with high school students for opportunities such as work-based learning.

“We are excited to be helping Cherokee County employers and students connect,” says Golden Path Founder and CEO Patrick Mineer. “Cherokee County high school leaders are looking forward to offering more work-based learning experiences and building relationships with regional businesses. The Chamber is a wonderful resource to partner with to welcome those employers into the Golden Path community through Compass.”

Cherokee County Chamber members can start their membership today by contacting the Chamber or Golden Path for their Compass discount code.
